Community Lunch

What better way to celebrate the start of spring than a community get together for lunch on a Sunday?

On Sunday 13th March there will be a bring-and-share community meal for everyone at the Sevenstones from 12-2. Everyone is welcome, and there will be face painting for children. A raffle will raise money for excellent local charity Shelterbox.

Bring some food with you, and the pub's bar will be open for drinks.

This will also be a chance to find out a bit more about the new community group Transition St Martin's. Affiliated to Transition Scilly, which has been going since 2008, this is a way of getting Transition closer to the community by operating on just one island.

Transition covers so many things, but is essentially about promoting community action that makes a community more resilient. This could be in growing and eating more local
food, producing energy from renewables, encouraging low carbon transport, 'make and mend' workshops, meditation and yoga groups...the list is long and the ideas broad.

Above all the ideas are practical and positive, rooted in the local community and accessible. For some more background have a look at this page on Transition Network.
